What Does the Law Say?
By law, all lifting equipment, including existing, second-hand, leased & new must comply with the Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).
The LOLER Regulations state that all lifting equipment needs to be “thoroughly examined at specified periods”. The inspection period depends on the equipment's uses and type, but the Regulations recommend that this should be at least six-monthly for tackle/accessories and at a minimum, annually for all other equipment. An insurance inspector’s visit does not satisfy the legislation, this is where RHC Lifting Ltd can help you. RHC Lifting will produce an examination schedule to inspect and maintain your lifting equipment to ensure the latest regulations are met.
